A talented multi-instrumentalist

Jacob Collier is a British composer, arranger and singer. He plays the piano, double bass, bass guitar, drums and the guitar. From a very young age, he has always been immersed in music since his mother is a violinist at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

In 2014, he was spotted on Youtube thanks to the videos of covers that he had been posting for a few years. It allowed him to be easily identified by the producer Quincy Jones and then to write his first album entitled “In my Room”; totally recorded in his room as mentionned in the title! He since won two Grammy Awards: the Digital Initiative of the Year in 2016 and the Best instrumental arrangement in 2017. At the end of 2018, Jacob released the first part of his second album entitled “Djesse, Vol. 1”; followed by the release of the second volume in July 2019.

Discover his vision of music

In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, Jacob draws his inspiration from very various music styles like Brazilian music, jazz; gospel, classical music and soul among others. He also collaborated with artists from very different backgrounds such as Take 6 (a gospel group); Sam Amidon (folk singer), Lianne La Havas (indie folk) and many others.

His knowledge about music theory, arrangement and composition is quite impressive for his young age.
