The bassist of the metal band Sepultura
Paulo Xisto, also called Paulo Junior, was born in Belo Horizonte. He joined the band Sepultura in 1984 when it was just created by Max and Igor Cavalera. He is currently the oldest member of the band, the arrival of Andreas Kisser, who fixes the line-up of the band, going back to 1987.
Paulo has a particular profile for a professional bass player and also recognized: he joined Sepultura without having ever played bass, he did not know the solfeggio and developed his game under the benevolence of the members of the band Sepultura.
Touching for his humility therefore, he draws up the profile of the musician who developed at the service of the group, without musical formation. Even today he assumes that he does not master the music theory. His playing is all the more accurate and lively, more percussive.
An example for many musicians who do not have advanced training but who wish to play in a band, or even become professional. Paulo is not the most comfortable in the studio, what he likes is the live, the interaction with the public and the musicians of the band, especially his rhythmic companion Eloy Casagrande.

Because of his background and profile, Paulo is not comfortable as a teacher. But he accepted to play the game for imusic-school and for Sepultura fans.
His masterclass focuses largely on the history of Sepultura. He tells the beginnings of the band, that of young friends from the small town of Belo Horizonte, then the different stages of the professionalization, punctuated by the evolutions of the line-up. The artistic evolution also, which wanted to hide at first its Brazilian origins, and which wished then to cultivate them and to mark the musicality of the group.
He presents his way of approaching the stage, and proposes demonstrations and explanations on Sepultura’s songs. Eloy Casagrande and him propose you demonstrations and explanations on the bass-drums part of four songs of the group.
